Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has no plans to launch a car smaller than the upcoming Etios, a senior executive said on Wednesday.

Deputy managing director Sandeep Singh told the Hindhu: “We have no plans for a smaller car.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the Corolla Altis diesel sedan launch in New Delhi on Wednesday he said the company had taken 2,500 more orders for its locally assembled Fortuner SUV since “booking” was reopened this month.

“The total delivery pending is 6,500 units. Once it reaches 7,000 units, we will stop taking orders again,” Singh told the paper.

The company had stopped taking orders from 31 January because of a huge backlog. Since launch, over 8,500 Fortuners have been sold.
