Tata Motors has resumed production at its Sanand plant where the low cost Nano is manufactured. The plant was shut for a fortnight as inventory rose.
“Production at Tata Motors’ Sanand plant has resumed after a temporary suspension for about a fortnight. This was done for maintenance and to rationalise inventory,” a company spokesperson told the Hindustan Times.
The plant has capacity of over 20,000 units a month.
Nano sales did not pick up as expected which resulted in the inventory pile-up. Sales have risen by 6% to 25,239 units so far in the current fiscal year, the report added.
