To benefit from the low cost of manufacturing in India, a £1.5 million joint venture between UK’s CTP Gills Cables and Suprajit Engineering is being established.

It will manufacture automotive cables for four wheelers exclusively for CTP Gills. Part of £110 million Carlco Plc, CTP Gills is restructuring to reduce its manufacturing activity and focus on engineering and technical development.

Both partners are investing an equal amount into the venture and building a new facility at Doddabellapur near Bangalore. After operations begin in October 2005, the company predicts revenues of €7.27 million annually by 2008.

Until then, Suprajit will supply cables worth €363,636 to CTP Gills from its own facility which has a total capacity of 40 million cables a year from three facilities in Haryana, Gujarat and Bangalore.
