Maruti Suzuki has decided to shut down two of its factories on 16 September, as labour unrest spread to its powertrain supplier which ships around 300,000 diesel engines a year.
“Following the strike at its vendor, Suzuki Powertrain India, supply of certain critical components to Maruti Suzuki’s facilities has been disrupted,” the automaker said in a statement.

“As a result, Maruti Suzuki’s plants in Gurgaon and Manesar will not operate on Friday, 16 September.”
Suzuki Powertrain is 70% owned by Suzuki.
