Mercedes-Benz India is expected to start production at its second plant very soon.
According to Press Trust of India, the second plant would double capacity to 20,000 units a year.
Mercedes-Benz India VP (sales and network development) Boris Fitz said: “The second plant is in the final stage and in the process of getting all the approvals. The plant will be ready for use very soon.
“The new plant will make the company future-ready as the luxury car market is going to expand at a higher growth as compared to the normal passenger car market,” he added.
Mercedes’ first assembly plant, located at Chakan near Pune, has capacity for 10,000 units a year.
