Lowell Paddock, a 20-year General Motors veteran, will take over as president and managing director of GM’s India operations from 1 January. He succeeds Karl Slym who moves to China as executive vice president of GM’s joint venture with SAIC-Wuling. Slym has headed up GM’s India operations since October 2007.

GM has India manufacturing facilities in Halol, Gujarat, and Talegaon, Maharashtra, as well as its joint venture with SAIC. 

Paddock has held several posts in product planning and programme management in the US, Europe and Asia, since joining GM in 1992. His previous positions include director of portfolio planning at GM Europe, V-P (planning) at GM Asia Pacific, and executive director of planning and programme management at GM-SAIC in China.
