Nissan plans to expand its luxury car range in India and is considering the launch of its luxury Infiniti brand. Toyota is also planning to launch Lexus in the country.

According to IndiaMart.com, Andy Palmer, VP at Nissan Motor, said: “We will have to compete with manufacturers like Mercedes Benz and BMW which are producing locally. If we get the cars as CBUs, they will be very expensive due to the high import duty.”

Palmer added that it would be a while before the company launches the cars in India due to the recent changes in local car assembly rules.
