Nissan Motor has arrived in India with the X-Trail SUV, which will be imported into the country in CBU form (meaning a duty of 104% over the sticker price) and sold through dealers in major cities.

The X-Trail will be sold in India in two trim levels – Comfort with an ex-showroom price of INR2. 11 million (€38,000) and Elegance (INR2.41 million; €43,000).

The X-Trail is intended to test the market, as Nissan wants to decide its future course of action for India market. The country has not forecast volume for the compact SUV.

The company has shown interest in sourcing components from India and in establishing English language call centres in the country.
