Workers at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in the northern Indian state of Haryana halted work for a few hours on Thursday in protest over disciplinary procedures.
The company moved quickly to resolve the issue which followed a 13-day strike last month which led to more than US$90m in lost production. Workers had demanded recognition of a new union specific to the plant.
Maruti, which sells nearly half of all passenger cars in India, saw its sales drop 8.8% to 80,298 vehicles in June, its first decline since December 2008.
The Manesar plant can produce about 1,200 vehicles a day including the Swift, A-Star, DZiRE and SX4.
A spokesman for the company said the latest dispute halted production for “a few hours”.
