Maruti Suzuki India sales rose 41.6% to 84,808 vehicles last month, the second best month in company history. Exports of 14,847 units set a new monthly record and nearly tripled the 5,795 shipped a year earlier.

Cumulative fiscal year (beginning 1 April) exports passed the 50,000 cumulative exports in in August, led by the A star (Alto) whose major markets in Europe include Germany, UK, France and the Netherlands.

Lower interest rates and recent government stimulus packages have boosted sales in India.

Maruti sold a record 85,669 vehicles last March.
