Maruti Udyog on Wednesday said it sold 41,095 vehicles in February, down 5.8% from 43,603 units a year earlier.
According to Reuters, India’s biggest car maker, which produces Suzuki-designed models, said it sold 36,608 units locally, down 8% from 39,826 units a year earlier, while exports rose 19% to 4,487 units from 3,777 units a year earlier.
Maruti reportedly said domestic sales were affected by an expectation of an excise duty cut in March.
Maruti cut prices on its five small car models by as much as 25,000 rupees on Tuesday, Reuters added.
