Maruti has received a warm response for the redesigned (by Suzuki) Swift in India.
The company launched the newcomer starting at INR387,000 for the base model, billed as an ‘introductory’ price, that pegged the Swift at much lower levels than the other players in the field – the Hyundai Getz and the Opel Corsa Sail.
While the company ended the introductory pricing on Wednesday, the two-week offer ensured about 22,000 orders, and counting. This will result in a waiting list of 4-8 months.
The base model will now cost INR395,000, an increase of INR 8,000 over the launch price. But the revised pricing should hardly dent the inflow of orders given the value for money.
The car’s competitors are also hatchbacks, which are priced higher at comparable specification levels, such as the Hyundai Getz at INR450,000, the Fiat Palio (INR421,000) and Opel Corsa Sail (INR454,000).
