Utility vehicle and SUV specialist Mahindra & Mahindra boosted domestic and export sales 20% rise year on year last month to 41,506 units.
Sales in India rose 21% to 39,352 vehicles.
M&M noted the good result came despite a five-day planned maintenance production shutdown last month.
It boosted its domestic sales in the four-wheel commercial segment – which includes passenger and load-carrying models – 41%.
“We are delighted with a 20% growth in October in spite of the planned maintenance shutdown which we took during this month. The [new] XUV500 [SUV] has received a phenomenal response with 8,000-plus [orders] in just 10 days and we are currently in the process of expediting deliveries before re-opening [the order book],” said M&M’s auto division CEO Rajesh Jejurikar.
