Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s market leader in utility vehicles, has launched its new ‘indigenously engineered’ Sport Utility Vehicle – Scorpio. The company claims that the new generation SUV ‘aptly bridges the gap between style & adventure, luxury & ruggedness and performance & economy’.

Presenting the Scorpio to the nation Mr Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra said: “We are extremely proud of the Scorpio and are sure that it would make both customers and car makers think seriously about the Sports Utility Vehicle segment. We at M&M have anticipated the potential of the SUV segment and believe that the strong value proposition the Scorpio offers would make it a winner.”

Available in both diesel and petrol versions, the Scorpio has been designed by Mahindra & Mahindra’s in-house Integrated Design and Manufacturing (IDAM) Team.

Deliveries of the new vehicle across India start at the end of June.

Speaking at the official launch, Mr Alan Durante, Executive Director M&M and President Automotive Sector said, “Scorpio will make India proud! It is a world-class vehicle positioned to carve a new market segment encompassing Utility Vehicles and mid-size cars. Our aim is not just to break into the hard top category, but to achieve a 45% market share. We are truly confident of achieving this target over the next 3 years.”
