General Motors India has shown off three new cars that will be launched under the Chevrolet brand between February and June this year.

General Motors India currently has less that 3% of the market and is looking for a volume boost. The premium Aveo U-VA hatchback is key to this as it competes against Maruti’s hugely successful new Swift and Hyundai’s Getz.

The mid-size premium Aveo sedan – similar to a model just launched in that other major emerging market, China – will compete with the Honda City.

There’s also a new Optra SRV (sports recreational vehicle).

All three models have petrol engines between 1.4- and 1.8-litres in capacity.
