Freudenberg group is spending around INR1.3bn (US$24.22m) in Mysore where units Chem-Trend and Klüber Lubrication India are building new facilities.
In the medium term it will become a technical centre of excellence for southeast Asia and the Pacific rim, providing customised products. Specialty lubricants, release agents and maintenance products manufactured in Mysore have various applications in different industries including automotive.
Construction started in 2011. By 2016, the completed plant will have 17,000 sq m of covered space.
The product development laboratories in Mysore will become a regional competence centre for specialty lubricants, release agents and maintenance products.
The Mysore plant currently employs some 110 employees. It is expected that more than 100 jobs will be created in coming years.
