Ford India plans to open its factory at Sanand, Gujarat on 26 March. It will be the company’s second production plant in India after Chennai.
The automaker spent around US$1bn building the facility which will have annual capacity of 270,000 engines and 240,000 vehicles, The Hindu Business Line reported. Sanand will almost double the automaker’s capacity in India.
Output from Gujarat will fill both domestic and Asian export orders.
