Fiat India plans to double export turnover to $US20 million next year, according to a report in the Business Standard.
Citing Fiat India managing director Maurizio Paola Bianchi, the newspaper said the company expects to increase turnover from exports of Uno and Siena mechanical parts to other Fiat plants in South Africa, Turkey and Poland.
Fiat India also plans to introduce diesel versions of the Palio and the relaunched Siena next year as well as launching new Weekender and Adventurer Palio station wagon models next month, the Business Standard added.
Bianchi told the newspaper that Fiat India plans to focus more on the B and C market segments. The B segment consists of hatchbacks and accounts for 30% of cars sold while the mid-size C segment takes 14%.
He added that Fiat plans to sell 50,000 cars this year and has sold 80,000 since setting up in India in 1996.
Bianchi added that Fiat expects to have 75 dealers and 150 service points the end of the year, the newspaper said.

By GlobalDataThe Business Standard said Fiat achieved an 85 per cent local content level in March and now builds 220 cars a day on a two-shift basis at its Kurla plant, up from 70 cars daily almost a year ago. The Kurla plant can assemble 60,000 cars annually.
Fiat recorded a 739% increase in sales to 4,203 vehicles in April compared with 501 units in April 2001, the Business Standard said.
Its monthly market share increased to around 10 per cent from 1.3 per cent in August 2001 following the recent Palio introduction, the newspaper added.
