Indian vehicle makers recorded strong sales growth in their domestic market in September.
Maruti Udyog, 54.2% owned by Suzuki Motor, sold over 10,000 more cars last month than in September 2005, with sales of 56,606 units, up from 46,393.
Maruti also exported 2,814 cars , down slightly from September last year when it shipped 2,814, according to Reuters.
Tata Motors recorded a 23.8% increase in sales in September to 49,157 units from 39,707 a year earlier.
Sales of commercial vehicles rose 40% to 26,627 units from 19,087, while sales of cars and utility vehicles rose 16% to 18,609 units.

Indica sales were 10,694 units in September, up 10.6% from a year ago, while sales of vehicles in the Indigo family increased 6.4% cent year-on-year to 3,568 units for the month.
Tata’s SUV, the Safari, recorded its highest ever monthly sales of 1,543 units.
Tata exports fell 14% to 3,921 units from 4,542.
Mahindra & Mahindra said its sales rose 15% to 15,976 units from 13,839 a year earlier. M&M makes sports utility vehicles, light commercial vehicles and three-wheelers, all of which are included in the figures. Domestic sales rose 12% and exports rose 96%, to 1,055 units, up from 539 a year ago.
