Nissan will deliver its first Datsun badged car of the 21st century to a customer in India on 19 March – 100 years to the day after the first DAT car was launched in Japan.

The GO will be sold through a network of 120 Datsun dealers in India; pricing will be announced next week, the company said.

Sales will also start later this year in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.

During its 100 year-history, Datsun sold more than 20m vehicles in 190 countries. Nissan decided to reintroduce the name as “the brand of choice for the risers in today’s high-growth markets”.
