Sales in April-January, the first 10 months of the current business year ending in March, rose 20.2% to 668,353 units from 555,886 a year earlier, the report said.
Sales of commercial vehicles, or trucks and buses combined, were up 17.8% at 29,630 units in the past month, up from 25,154 in January 2004. Sales in April-January rose 24.6% to 252,933 units from 203,064 a year earlier.
Motorcycle sales in January jumped 22.8% to 435,665 units from 354,640 in 2004, SIAM added, according to Reuters. Sales in April-January were up 19.4% at 4,102,638 units from 3,437,481.
