India’s car market continued its recovery in February helped by manufacturer discounts and heightened interest in a raft of new models from Suzuki and Hyundai.

Industry data shows that sale of light vehicles grew 6.1% from a year earlier to 231,165 units in February. The 6.1% gain exceeded January’s 3.2% annual rise.

India’s auto industry trade association said that light vehicle sales in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year were up around 4% to 2.35m units.

Car sales in India are recovering following two years of decline.
