Audi is entering the Indian market, by the end of this year, using the fully-imported route.

The company will initially launch the A8 luxury saloon (three-litre petrol) and the All-Road quattro (2.5-litre diesel).

Amit Burman of the Delhi-based Dabur group (a large healthcare and FMCG conglomerate) is setting up the first Audi dealership in the capital (Euro Motors), to cater to the entire North Indian market.

Neither model needs homolgation for the Indian market as they are above $US40,000. The TT and the A6 are currently being homologated for the Indian market at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

The cars will retail in India at prices between INR3.2 million and INR5.0 million ($US69,000-108,000).
