Hyundai Motor launched its new EQ900 flagship saloon model range this week, to be sold under the company's new Genesis luxury brand designed to take on global luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The EQ900 comes with a choice of three in-house engines: the Tau five-litre V8 plus the Lambda 3.8-V6 and 3.3-litre V6 Turbo.

The use of ultra-high strength steel has been increased to offer great safety and stability. The car also uses Hyundai's latest HVCS suspension technology for improved ride comfort.

Local prices range between KRW73-117m (US$62,000-99,000). Hyundai said it aims to have six Genesis model ranges on sale by 2020.
