Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, was the fourth-largest global manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs) in the first quarter of 2020, according to research carried out by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA).

The South Korean group sold a total of 24,116 EVs globally in the first three months of 2020 to claim an 8% share of the global market. Hyundai's EV range includes the Ioniq, Kona Electric and Nexo models, while Kia's modelrange include the Soul Electric and e-Niro. Exports increased by 26% to 20,173 units in the first quarter, while domestic sales amounted to 3,943 units.

Last year the group ranked sixth globally with a total of 84,200 EV sales.

The world's largest EV manufacturer remains Tesla, with global sales of 88,400 units in the first quarter of 2020 and a 29% global market share. Renault-Nissan came second with 39,355 sales and a 13% global market share; followed by Volkswagen Group with 33,846 units (11%); and China's BYD Auto with 18,834 units (6%).
