Geely Automobile Holdings reportedly said on Wednesday that February volume sales in its car manufacturing units fell about 44% from a month ago due to fewer business days last month to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
According to Reuters, the low-priced vehicle maker said total sales fell to 6,018 units last month from 10,680 units in January. For the first two months, sales dropped 6% to 16,698 units from the same period last year, which included 12,881 Geely sedans and 3,817 Maple sedans.
Chairman Li Shufu said earlier this month that he expected to see the company’s car sales rise by about 40% this year, with a target of selling 140,000 cars, Reuters noted.
Geely reportedly said its sales volume have gradually recovered to the levels achieved before the sharp market downturn starting from the second quarter of 2004 – the company sold roughly 101,000 cars last year, falling short of an earlier target of 160,000.
