Honda UK has added a diesel engine to its locally built Civic hatchback model line and a new petrol option for the updated Japanese made Jazz [Fit].
The upgraded 1.6-litre i-DTEC in the Civic delivers fuel economy of up to 3.5 l/100km (80.7 mpg) on the new 'real world' NEDC test.
Changes to the 120PS engine reduce cylinder friction, improve NOx conversion efficiency and further develop driveability, Honda said.
Under the combined cycle of the revised NEDC test, the engine's CO2 emissions are 93g/km.
The 2018 Jazz has minor styling updates and the option of a 130PS 1.5 i-VTEC petrol engine [previously available in other markets outside Europe] and introduced here, Honda said, "in response to customer demand for a more powerful variant".
The new Euro 6-compliant engine achieves fuel economy of 5.4 l/100km (52.3 mpg) and CO2 emissions from 124g/km with the optional CVT automatic transmission. The CVT system itself has been revised to deliver a more linear and refined response under acceleration.
Styling changes include the new Honda family 'Solid Wing Face' headlight signature and grille.
The 1.5 engine is offered as part of a new Dynamic trim grade which adds a thinner front splitter beneath the lower grille and a triple-strake diffuser to the rear bumper – both finished with a red accent line.
European order books for the new Civic diesel open this month with the first demonstrators arriving at dealers from early February. The updated Jazz cab be ordered now with first deliveries expected "early this year".
