Hitachi Astemo said it had received electric axle (e-Axle) orders for mid- and large size battery electric vehicles from Honda Motor slated for global launch in 2026.

The systems integrator will deliver a high performance, integrated drive unit with the e-Axle system combining a silicon carbide (SiC) inverter; a square wire, low loss, high efficiency motor and a compact, quiet gearbox from an unnamed gearbox manufacturer.

Hitachi Astemo said it would respond to rapidly expanding e-Axle demand by expanding sales of its in house developed electric axles to various automobile manufacturers globally. It will also supply motors and inverters for electric axles assembled by automobile and gearbox manufacturers.

For its electrification business, it is aiming to invest JPY300bn including R&D until fiscal 2025, increase sales revenue to JPY400bn in fiscal 2025 and double sales revenue by fiscal 2030.
