Hankook’s Europe Technical Centre (ETC) has opened its Nürburgring Workshop in Meuspath in South West Germany, after it started operating unofficially a few months previously.
The decision to invest in a dedicated field office took into account growth in the volume of Hankook’s premium original equipment used on high-performance vehicles.
Hankook has been carrying out tests on the Nordschleife, where it tests its UUHP tyres (Ultra-Ultra-High-Performance), developed for use as original equipment.
“Opening our workshop in the immediate vicinity of the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife enables us to carry out performance and load tests much more efficiently, which are increasingly important in the field of high-performance road vehicles,” said head of the European Hankook test team at the Research and Development Centre in Hanover, Andreas Pürschel.
“This enables us to ensure we offer our customers the best possible products with the highest level of performance.”
The ETC, which opened in Hanover in 1997, has allowed the tyre maker to significantly expand its research projects in Europe. In addition to developing customised tyres for original equipment used on vehicles in Europe, testing of products in stringent conditions is also an integral part of the ETC’s work.
