Tata Motors has launched its entire range of passenger cars in the West African country Ghana, according to domain-b.com.
Tata already sells commercial vehicles in the country, and has done so since 1974. The brand is well established and its trucks are viewed as amongst the most affordable on the market.
The company has established car dealerships in major cities and service centres in six locations. The market is dominated by used car imports, but most global automakers have dealerships in Ghana, where import duties are low.
Domain-b noted that Tata Motors is expanding across Africa. It is already a major player in the commercial vehicle market in South Africa and Senegal and has a presence in DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and Madagascar, amongst others. Tata buses are assembled in Morocco.
Last year Tata launched its cars in South Africa.
