Volkswagen is reportedly planning two new production sites in China as part of an aggressive Chinese expansion strategy, according to a press report.
Manager Magazin cited company sources as saying that VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn sought to sell 2.4 million vehicles in China by 2018, compared with 946,000 last year.
It gave the information in a pre-release of an article to be published on Friday.
The report said one site would be built in Chengdu with an annual capacity of 200,000 to 300,000 vehicles.
VW recently acquired an ex-Fiat-NAC facility in Nanjing from SAIC.
