Volkswagen expects group sales to rise by at least 100,000 vehicles this year, chief executive Bernd Pischetsrieder told Reuters on Thursday.
“We will grow by at least a six-figure number,” he reportedly said, noting the company was winning market share this year, especially in Europe. Car markets will not make big advances in 2006, he said. “But we believe that we will win market share worldwide in 2006”
Reuters said Europe’s biggest carmaker delivered 5.08m vehicles to customers in 2004.
It added that the run rate would be consistent with the group’s performance in the first nine months to September, when Volkswagen delivered 118,000 vehicles more, or 3.1%, to rise to 3.86m vehicles.
