Reversing a trend of recent years to outsource, Volkswagen is bringing a large part of components production back to its own plants.
In the first half of the year, in-house design and production teams had won the contracts for most new projects, executive board member Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz told an employee meeting, Financial Times Deutschland reported.
VW also plans to take more control of support activities such as computer services, warehousing and transport, he added.
