Wagon (or, if you’re British, ‘estate car’) versions of the latest Volkswagen Golf/Rabbit/Jetta line have been spotted on test in Europe, ahead of an expected Geneva show in March.

‘Scoop’ photos in the consumer press suggest a Golf, rather than more upmarket Jetta, base but the old model was built in Golf, Bora and Jetta-badged versions and the German home market was offered both. Other European markets went with the Golf while North America took the Jetta. The latest Golf is now sold as the Rabbit there, reviving a name last used until the early 1980s.

Consumer press reports say the latest VW wagon’s cabin will be more flexible with folding rear bench seat that can also be removed, numerous storage compartments and tie-down points.
