Volkswagen has launched a five-door version of its new Up city car, saying the new model has the same space for rear passengers as the three-door.

Seat and Skoda-badged models will also be offered.

VW said it expected over half of all Up buyers to choose the five-door which is priced from EUR10,325 in Germany, EUR475 more than the three-door. Deliveries begin in May.

First UK deliveries of right hand drive models are expected in the second half of the year; no prices have been announced yet.
