Volkswagen group global vehicle deliveries in January and February rose 7.7% to 1.29m units, ahead of a world market up about 6%. February sales rose 15.1% to 642,300 units.
“We… are keeping a very close eye on the markets – especially in western Europe,” sales chief Christian Klingler said.
Europe sales rose 1.3% to 532,700 vehicles last month but west Europe volume, eclusing Germany, dipped 7% to 281,200 cars. German sales were up 3.2% to 162,300 units. Central and eastern Europe sales rose 34.2% to 89,200.
Volkswagen Passenger Cars sales rose 8% to 818,800 units worldwide in January and February.
Audi volume was up 8.5% to 202,700 cars.
Škoda sales rose 11.6% to 147,500 but Seat dipped 12.2% to 44,800, mainly as a result of shrinking markets in western Europe.
