Group sales at Volkswagen rose 8.2% in November to a record 534,900 vehicles and brought deliveries in the first 11 months of the year to 5.68m, up 8.5%, putting the group within easy reach of its target of selling more than 6m cars in a year for the first time, according to a report.
Reuters said VW’s sales in Europe’s tough car markets rose 2.7% in the first 11 months to 3.31m vehicles, including a gain of 0.4% in western Europe to 2.87m units, offsetting a 4.1% decline in Germany, its largest single market with 963,300 vehicles delivered.
Sales in the Asia-Pacific region swelled by over 25% to 974,100 units according to the report. China was the region’s biggest market, with sales up 30.7% to 845,400 cars.
South America sales gained 31.1% to 677,700 units, with a 34% rise in Brazil to 529,100 cars. US sales edged up 0.7% to 299,800 vehicles.
