Volkswagen has dismissed a German media report that said it plans to completely take over truck maker MAN this year.

VW holds about 30% of MAN.

“No such plans exist,” a VW spokesman told Thomson Financial after weekly Wirtschaftswoche, citing company sources, had reported earlier that VW wants to fully acquire MAN this year but would not break the company up.

The report added that VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn plans to make further acquisitions this year, particularly in the commercial vehicles sector.
