Volkswagen is planning to increase production of the new Tiguan SUV produced by its subsidiary Auto 5000 in Wolfsburg.


In July and August six extra shifts will be added on six Sundays, a source told a local Wolfsburg newspaper. The extra shifts were agreed with unions last Sunday.


Volkswagen has been operating Sunday shifts to produce the new SUV since the autumn, according to Automobilwoche. The Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung reported that 269,800 Tiguans had been built so far this year.
