The Volkswagen Group’s award recognises Visteon’s Autopal facility in the Czech Republic as ‘one of the best performing suppliers to Skoda Auto’. The award specifically refers to the product quality, production processes and the in-sequence delivery of components. Visteon’s Autopal facility supplies a variety of head and rear lamps for Skoda Auto’s Fabia, Octavia and Superb.


“The Volkswagen Group Award for quality is evidence of performance, delivery of high quality products, and collaboration resulting from a strong customer relationship between Autopal and Skoda Auto, in the Czech Republic. Visteon Corporation is very proud to have such a strong presence in Central Eastern Europe,” said Dr. Heinz Pfannschmidt, Visteon President, Europe and South America.


The award ceremonies were held at Volkswagen Group’s newest manufacturing site, the famous Dresden “Glass Manufacture”. Awards were presented to 25 suppliers in the five categories of Quality, Development Competence, Logistics, Entrepreneurial Skills and Environment.


“Autopal has been an automotive component supplier to Skoda for headlights and separate brake lights for many years,” said Klaus Ziegler, Skoda Auto’s Purchasing Manager. “A significant investment program between 1994 and 1998, in injection moulding machines, a new paint shop, vacuum moulding machines, and measurement technology, as well as quality optimisation measures, turned Autopal into an extremely high-quality supplier, capable of working on additional new projects. Autopal’s hallmarks are high-quality products and excellent project work.”

Automotive lighting products built by Autopal include headlamps, rear lamps, fog lamps, high-mounted stop lamps, as well as front and side indicators. The Autopal technical center is developing several leading-edge lighting technologies including Visteon’s Advanced Front Lighting System (AFS). Autopal has a technical centre for lighting development with multiple testing facilities and a tool and mould shop inside the manufacturing plant. The Autopal manufacturing plant also produces climate control and engine cooling components.
