Of the EUR30bn that the Volkswagen Grouup will invest over the next three years, EUR9.5bn will be invested in the Volkswagen brand to fund development of manufacturing facilities and new models.


According to Automobilwoche Volkswagen’s head of production, Jochem Heizmann, said that EUR6.5bn will be invested in new products and around EUR1.7bn will be invested in production facilities, including new plants in Russia and India, a third assembly line and a press plant for Wolfsburg and a new paintshop in Pamplona.


A total of EUR 479m will be invested in Wolfsburg, of which EUR120m will be for Golf production. EUR158m will go towards changes to the structure of the plant and the press shop. The Brunswick plant will get a further EUR229m.


Kassel will receive EUR550m, of which EUR121m is to expand capacity for gearbox production. EUR 372m will be invested in the Emden plant and EUR 304m in the Salzgitter plant to support production of TDI common rail engines.


EUR110m will be invested in Auto 5000 and EUR 456m will be invested in Volkswagen’s Saxony plant. EUR 86m will go towards modernising the paintshop and other structural changes.
