TRW Automotive has outlined further details with regard to government anti-trust inquiries.

European anti-trust authorities visited certain of the company’s occupant safety systems business unit locations in Germany last month concerning an investigation of anti-competitive conduct in the European Union.

A related subpoena was received in the US from the American Department of Justice, with a TRW statement noting it understood the inquiries were part of an ongoing investigation of automotive parts suppliers concerning possible violations of competition (antitrust) laws.

Such investigations, it added, often took several years and could result in significant penalties being imposed by the European authorities as well as the US Department of Justice.

“We are only providing the statement and nothing else,” a TRW spokeswoman told just-auto. “These things can go for a long time and we are committed to being open.

“I am not able to provide any more detail other than in the statement.”
