Die Welt reports that Toyota, the Japanese automobile group, is determined to increase sales figures in Germany to 200,000 vehicles by 2010. The company predicts that its market share in Germany will rise from 3.9 per cent to 4 per cent this year.
Last year, the group saw sales figures of the Toyota and Lexus marques increase by 15.3 per cent to 127,019 units in Germany, the highest figure since the group entered the German market more than 30 years ago.
Die Welt said that Toyota management is optimistic that sales figures in Germany will increase to 130,000 in 2005. In the financial year 2003/04, which ended on 31 March 2004, Toyota registered pre-tax profits of 7.1m euros on turnover of around 2bn euros in Germany.
The report added that the company bases its optimism for the coming years on the launch of key models such as the Toyota Prius and Aygo.
