Porsche is still on a growth track, despite the weak economic situation in Germany, the sportscar and luxury SUV maker said in a statement on Thursday.

In its home market, Porsche achieved its best-ever half-year to the end of June with 9,850 new registrations, up 10.2% on lat year’s 8,941 units. With 2,210 new registrations in June alone, it also set a new monthly record.

This was due mainly to the launch of redesigned 911 and Boxster, lines late last year. 911 registrations increased 11% in the first half to 4,484 vehicles, while Boxster volume rose a healthy 32% to 2,329 units.

Sales of the Cayenne were off 2% to 2,997 in the first half, however. June sales of 528 units were described as “the best June result since… launch in 2002”.

Bernhard Maier, managing director of Porsche Deutschland GmbH said: “The positive response to the launch of our new sports cars is clearly reflected in these figures. In 2005, we will continue this positive trend with further product innovations. In October, for example, we will launch the 911 Carrera 4 in four versions, and in November there will be a new highlight for our customers in the middle-engine coupé Cayman S. [a new coupe derivative of the Boxter roadster].”
