Kjell Gruner now heads the central marketing department at Porsche, taking over from Gerd Mäuser who, the automaker said, “is leaving the company by mutual agreement”.

Gruner was head of strategy at Mercedes-Benz Cars and in his new position reports to Porsche sales and marketing chief Bernhard Maier.

Maier said: “In Kjell Gruner we were able to secure a high-profile marketing expert, one who not only has Porsche in his genes, but also has many years of experience in strategic brand development as well as in subjects that are central for our future, such as electromobility.”

Gruner previously worked for Porsche from 1999 to 2004 in strategic projects, marketing planning and marketing strategy. Last 1 July, Gruner took on the position of managing director of the ‘Automotive Institute for Management’ at the European Business School, but has now rejoined Porsche.
