Opel will revive an old model name – Kapitän – for its 2009 Signum replacement, according to a German car magazine.
Kapitän is German for captain and was the name of a medium-sized Opel line in the 1960s and 70s.
Auto Bild said the name is already being used by Opel employees internally but the automaker would not comment on speculation about the name of a future model.
The magazine speculated that the model might also be built in GM’s Mexican plant in Ramos Arizpe. That is one of three GM plants in Mexico and produces the Pontiac Aztek, Chevrolet Cavalier, Chevrolet Chevy, Pontiac Sunfire and Buick Rendezvous.
