Opel will have to pay billions of euros in licence fees to GM after it separates from its parent, according to a report in German business daily Handelsblatt.
The report said GM will allow Opel access to all its proprietary rights but will request that Opel pays licence fees. Handelsbatt cited government sources.
The royalty fees amount to 5% of the annual revenue generated using GM-technologies, and the percentage will only be reduced for the transitional period between 2009 and 2015.
