GM’s Opel division expects to a post profit this year, German news magazine Focus has reported, citing Alain Visser, Opel’s marketing head.
Without providing specific profit targets, Visser says that GM is progressing towards posting a profit in Europe, while Saab was expected to post a loss.
Visser added that demand for Opel’s new Corsa model was very strong. The company recently reported slower sales for its Astra model.
According to Visser, the company has orders for 150,000 units of the Corsa model, 50% more than the company’s estimations. For 2007, he expects sales of the Corsa to surpass sales of Volkswagen’s Polo.
