Germany and the European Commission have failed in a last attempt to reach an agreement on a law that shields carmaker Volkswagen from takeover, Germany’s justice minister has said.

EU internal market commissioner Charlie McCreevy launched legal action against Germany last June for failing to properly amend a so-called VW Law the European Court of Justice said broke EU rules on the free movement of capital across borders, Reuters noted.
