Michael Mauer, Executive Director, Saab Design and GME Advance Design, is leaving Saab after four years of overseeing all design direction for the Swedish premium car maker, and more recently, all of GME’s advanced design studies.
Mauer will replace Harm Lagaay as Head of Design at Dr. Ing. H.c.F. Porsche AG, and will be based at Porsche’s Research and Development Centre in Weissach, Southern Germany.
Saab’s Head of Advanced Design, Anthony Lo, is named acting Director Saab Design until a successor can be announced.
“We thank Michael for his excellent contribution over the past four years, and understand that this opportunity allows Michael to permanently live with his family in Southern Germany, as they had lived in split households since his arrival at Saab”, says Saab Automobile AB’s Chairman and CEO, Peter Augustsson.
“At the same time we are very confident that we at Saab and GME have a very capable and experienced team of talented designers, with most having been intensively involved in Saab’s recent production car and concept designs. We are therefore highly confident that the future Saab portfolio will have a very strong, distinctive and expressive Saab design language, as seen in our recent concept cars, 9-X, 9-3X and 9-3 SportHatch concept.”
